The Advanced Vision Surgery Center (AVSC) - a premiere and fast-paced, surgeon owned surgery center specializing in routine and specialty eye surgery- is seeking a full-time and experienced Pre-Admission Testing Medical Assistant. Medical Assistant Certification required. Ambulatory Surgery Center or ophthalmology experience preferred. NO NIGHTS, WEEKENDS or HOLIDAY'S. Up to 3 paid annual floating holidays, paid holidays, starting at 3 weeks accrued PTO, Full benefits.


Responsibilities:


A Pre-Admission Testing Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient preparation of patients for surgical procedures. They obtain patients' medical histories and collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure that patients are optimally prepared for their procedures. Attention to detail, strong communication skills, and clinical expertise will contribute to the overall quality of care provided to patients. This is a Monday-Friday, 8:30-5:00 position.


  • Acts as a liaison between the office, surgical facility, patient and primary care or specialty physician
  • Ensure all surgical patients have completed the Medical History forms via online or in person in a timely manner
  • Review patients' medical histories, including pre-existing conditions, allergies, medications, and previous surgeries, to identify potential risks or complications and collaborate with the RN as needed.
  • Obtain Medical Clearances as needed.
  • Assess and triage patient phone calls promptly, ensuring appropriate clinical response and follow-up.
  • Provide patients and their families with detailed information about the upcoming procedure, including preoperative instructions.
  • Work closely with nurses, the anesthesia team, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records.
  • Adhere to strict infection control protocols and ensure that patients are screened for illnesses to minimize the risk of surgical site infections.
  • Monitor and address any safety concerns related to the patient's condition, such as allergies, fall risk, or other vulnerabilities.
  • Assist the Patient Representative with greeting and checking in patients as needed.
  • BLS required (completed within 3 months of hire)


Job Type: Full-time


Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour


Expected hours: 40 per week
