Job Summary


We are seeking a strategic and experienced

Director of Property & Casualty (P&C) to lead our P&C insurance division. This role will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of P&C underwriting, claims management, pricing, portfolio performance, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have deep industry knowledge, strong leadership capabilities, and a data-driven mindset to drive profitable growth and operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities


  • Leadership & Strategy
  • Develop and implement the strategic vision for the P&C division aligned with overall business goals.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team of underwriters, claims professionals, and analysts.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to drive product innovation and expansion.
  • Underwriting & Portfolio Management
  • Oversee underwriting standards, policies, and practices across all P&C lines (property, general liability, commercial auto, etc.).
  • Monitor and optimize portfolio performance, ensuring profitability and risk management.
  • Approve large or complex risks and ensure consistent risk appetite execution.
  • Claims Oversight
  • Provide strategic direction for P&C claims management, including policy interpretation, litigation, and settlement strategies.
  • Ensure efficient, fair, and compliant claims handling processes.
  • Product Development & Pricing
  • Partner with actuarial and product teams to develop competitive and profitable products.
  • Ensure pricing strategies are aligned with risk assessment and market dynamics.
  • Regulatory & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal insurance regulations.
  • Represent the company in regulatory audits and industry forums as needed.
  • Performance & Reporting
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs), loss ratios, and other critical metrics.
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities through regular data analysis and market research.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor�s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in the P&C insurance industry, including leadership roles.
  • Strong knowledge of underwriting, claims, regulatory environments, and insurance operations.
  • Proven track record in managing profitability, risk, and compliance across diverse P&C portfolios.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and leadership skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities; capable of influencing at all organizational levels.


Preferred Certifications


  • CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter)
  • ARM (Associate in Risk Management)
  • AINS (Associate in General Insurance)
